The Gaelscoil Bharra choir serenaded the Minister with Christmas songs, from outside the gates of the Department of Education on Monday December 21st , to highlight  that 14 years have passed with the pupils and teachers of Gaelscoil Bharra housed in appaling “temporary” overcrowded and cold prefabs. 

Santa letters from the pupils asking Minister O’Keeffe for a permanent school were also handed over.  

Mossie Byrne, Chairman of Committee for Permanent School Building, was in attendance and stated;

“We are calling on the Minister to actively engage with the School to ensure a permanent school is built as soon as possible.  At present it feels like we would be better off calling on Santa to deliver a new school as asking successive Ministers over the past 14 years has proven a waste of time. We will continue to highlight the horrendous conditions of the prefabs until we get a permanent school building”
